★★★★★★★★★★4.0 · 75 reviews · 10 hours (approx.) · from $65Our pick

Leave Guatemala City at 6:30 a.m. for a guided Pacaya hike, with horse hire available for the steep sections. Afterward, enjoy lunch and Kawilal’s thermal circuit, including more than 12 pools, steam baths, and hydrotherapy baths. Expect a long day and possible traffic delays.

“The reason for 4 stars and not 5 is only due to lack of description of this tour on Viator website and lack of explanation of lunch activity from our guide. The volcano hike was great, however after the hike we thought we were going to have lunch onsite at the mountain. It had been 6 or 7 hrs since we had eaten breakfast and our group was really excited to eat an outdoor lunch. But instead we bussed about 30 mins to another town to a hotel with thermal pools. We were told to go in the pools and eat in the restaurant later. We told him we needed…”

2.Pacaya Volcano Tour and Hot Springs from Antigua

★★★★★★★★★★4.5 · 70 reviews · 9 hours (approx.) · from $65

Start at 7:30 a.m. from Antigua, hike Pacaya with a local guide such as Claudio, Lydia, Juan Carlos, or Rodolfo, then enjoy lunch and the thermal pools at Kawilal Hot Springs. The hike reaches lava fields and viewpoints rather than always reaching the crater. Park entry costs $15 extra.

“The tour was great - pickup was at their office and the hike was a medium level hike! the morning is where you see the volcano the best before the clouds set in so I recommend! I agree that the tour just drops you off the hot springs hotel but they left is with someone who told us what our lunch options were. Communication could be better but overall, this was a GREAT day!”

“We had a terrible issue with the driver, who simply left us at the hotel when we went to pick up our luggage, then we had to grab an Uber to reach them and waited for aprox 50min at the meeting point. Also during the experience there was a lot of waiting and the driver was very unprofessional. We definitely don’t recommend it.”
